Replace normal " Build-in InnoDB" with "InnoDB Plugin" under DirectAdmin + CentOS 64 bits + MySQL 5.1

By BXTra | 1:55 AM PDT, Thu September 16, 2010

DirectAdmin
InnoDB

For some reason, under CentOS, Custombuild in DirectAdmin use "MySQL - Generic Linux (glibc 2.3) (x86, 64-bit) RPM file" instead of MySQL RPM files for Redhat. The different for these 2 packages are that, RPM for Redhat contain "ha_innodb_plugin.so" but not in Generic RPM package.

Compare files in Plugin folder on two different RPM.

Yum install perl-DBD-mysql, perl-DBI to use "mysqlreport" under CentOS 5.2 + DirectAdmin

MySQL

mysqlreport makes a friendly report of important MySQL status values. mysqlreport transforms the values from SHOW STATUS into an easy-to-read report that provides an in-depth understanding of how well MySQL is running. mysqlreport is a better alternative (and practically the only alternative) to manually interpreting SHOW STATUS.

When I was trying to use mysqlreport under CentOS 5.2 64 bit + DirectAdmin 1.3.2.3 Custom Build 1.1. I got error when run "./mysqlreport"

Sun to Acquire MySQL for $1 Billion

By BXTra | 2:44 AM PST, Thu January 17, 2008
Sun Microsystems will pay US$1 billion for Swedish software company MySQL, whose open-source database is used for some of the most widely visited Web sites in the world. Sun said the deal will augment its position in the enterprise IT market, including the $15 billion database market. Sun said MySQL's product line will help it give further support to the open-source Web application platform known as LAMP, the acronym for the Linux OS, Apache Web server, MySQL database and the PHP/Perl programming languages. MySQL's strength in software-as-a-service offerings -- where applications are delivered over the Internet through a Web browser -- are also a plus, Sun said. Databases are crucial for Internet-based applications in sites offering a range of services, from e-commerce to social networking.
