Facebook has released a new messaging app named Poke. An app that allows users to send messages and will disappear after up to 10 seconds. It looks like they are competing with Snapchat app that provided the same functionality. Currently, the Poke messaging app will allow messages to be sent between Facebook friends on iOS only. The messages can be expired after 1, 3, 5 or 10 seconds after being opened. The app also have a report feature to report unwanted messages. iOS users can download iTunes Store as of now.

Contradicting a belief that Apple refuses to license its patented technology to competing companies, a new report reveals that both Nokia and IBM licensed a patent covering iOS touch-based scrolling, and a licensing agreement was also offered to Samsung.

Hitach and Sony are reported to have teamed up to supply Apple with 4-inch LCD displays for an unspecified iOS device that will hit the market in 2012. Meanwhile, Apple is also said to be working on a fundamentally distinct display technology for the iPad 4.

Citing sources within Apple's Far Eastern supply chain, macotakara.jp claims that Hitach Displays, Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have begun shipments of 4-inch LCD panels to Apple for unspecified iOS device due next year.
